Kaltofens in Prehistory, | ![]() Lineage of Haplogroup G2 |
|
The Y-chromosome provides a direct paternal line of ancestral information. Based on the presence of the M201 and P15 markers in Ludwig Kaltofen's lineage, this Kaltofen ancestry traces back originally to the Indus Valley region of Pakistan about 10,000 to 20,000 years ago. This haplogroup occurs in less than 1 % of the population, but it occurs more frequently among some South Central European and Middle Eastern populations. Scattered G2-positive individuals can be found in Britain, Spain, and even Indonesia. The rarity of this lineage means that the Indus Valley ancestor had relatively few descendants but this rarity does allow for better tracking of historic period Kaltofens. Of course the G2 ancestor can be traced back to the original "African Adam" - the ancestor to all known male lineages about 59,000 years ago.
